Dep: Solid State Chemistry
Elena Marchante studied “Chemical Engineering” and “Nanoscience and Molecular Nanotechnology” Master in the University of Alicante. After that, she moved to Barcelona to do her PhD at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), and her research was based on the fabrication of electroactive self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) for the preparation of electronic devices. Since June 2017, she is working as postdoctoral student in the solid state chemistry department, involved in a ERC project focused on the development of calcium and magnesium batteries.
Elena Marchante’s research interest integrates electrochemistry, material science and energy in order to develop new sustainable alternatives to lithium-ion batteries, such as Ca or Mg metal anodes. Her previous experience in the preparation of different electrolytes for Na based batteries, and their electrochemical characterization allow her to have a broad understanding for the evaluation of new electrolyte formulation for divalent metal based batteries.
2008 University degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alicante (UA)
2012 Master degree in "Nanoscience and Molecular Nanotechnology" from the University of Alicante (UA)
Doctorate, University and Year:
2017 PhD in Materials Science from the Insitute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC)
