NFFA-Europe project (www.nffa.eu) is the first open-access infrastructure in Europe to perform research at the nanoscale. As part of the training activities, a Summer School devoted to "Nanoscience Foundries and Fine Analysis (NFFA), available instruments and techniques" took place at the Engineering School of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) between 18th and 22nd of July.
The school, organised by PRUAB-UAB, aimed to promote the use of instruments and the knowledge of techniques available within the NFFA-Europe consortium through 4 thematic groups of lectures in Lithography & Patterning, Growth & Synthesis, Characterization and Theory & Simulation.
As part of the school, visits to all the relevant infrastructures at the UAB Campus (lab tours) involved in the NFFA-Europe-transnational access were programmed. ICMAB-CSIC, one the partners participating in the project, received 30 students from all over Europe which were given a brief introduction of the Institute activities and then had the opportunity to visit some of the laboratories participating in the project, including the Cleanroom facility and the Raman, AFM and Low Temperature laboratories, where they received also some practical training on real samples.
