Research Fields:

Over the past many years I have been involved in several research fields related to materials science. At the very beginning of my career I was interested in the study of the thermal stability of metallic glasses; the work was carried out at the Condensed Matter Department of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. In 1987 the research interest of many of us switched to high-Tc superconductor materials. We focused on the search of new perovskite structures. At that time I was pursuing a M.Sc. at Northeastern University in Boston. After few years break from scientific activity, I settled in Barcelona where in 2003 I secured a permanent position as tenured scientist at the ICMAB. Currently, my research Interests are related to the controlled and rational synthesis of inorganic and hybrid nanoparticles & nanocomposites (with a soft spot for magnetic materials) and the understanding of their structural-functional properties including problems related to nano-bio-interfaces. I am also interested on women in science and education of science. Other interests are geo-politics, literature and travelling. I have lived for extended periods of time in Sweden, US, UK, Poland, Belgium and Spain.
