The future of Nanotechnology

More efficient medicines. Molecule-based switches. Tiny electronic devices. Solar energy. New materials.

All these aspects of nanotechnology that can improve our quality of life were presented and discussed at the International Conference Nanotech Insight ’09, which was held at the Campus of the UAB from 29 March to 2 April.

Experts in nanoscience and technology from around the world showed the latest advancements in the area. Scientists participated showing precise manipulation of atoms and molecules with state-of-the.art microscopes and even showed writing in electrons (see http://mota.stanford.edu/), as well as molecular machines which acted as tiny memorys (see http://stoddart.northwestern.edu/), and revealed the formulation of nanomedicines for more effective treatment of diseases (see http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/phrmy/contactsandpeople/fulltimeacademicstaff/duncan-ruthnew.html ).

The conference, organized by the Materials Science Institute of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) and SabryCorp, with the collaboration of the Barcelona Nanocluster Bellaterra and the Parc de Recerca de la UAB, delighted from 90 oral contributions heard by more than 200 attendees.
