In the morning of Thursday, 26 September 2019, Judith Morlà, TecnioSpring researcher at the Nanomol Group, and Andrés Gómez, Senior Technician at the Scanning Probe Microscopy Lab, became "A researcher in your classroom": they went to give some science talks to two high schools, in the framework of the European Researchers' Night.
On Friday, 15 March 2019, the secondary school INS Mercè Rodoreda (Hospitalet de Llobregat) celebrated their "V Scientific Day" (V Jornada Científica) with scientific activities for their students, from 1st ESO to 2nd BTX. José Vidal-Gancedo, Reseracher at ICMAB, was one of the invited speakers. He had the big challenge of talking about "Organic radicals for biomedical applications" to 3rd and 4th ESO students.
The students of physics and chemistry of 4th ESO of the highschool "La Tordera" in Santa Maria de Palautordera received the visit on 6 February 2019 of Anna Laromaine, researcher at ICMAB. Anna visited the highschool in the framework of the #11F2019, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, in which many researchers gave talks in primary and secondary schools during that week.
Arántzazu González, researcher from the ICMAB-CSIC, went on 11 February to a Primary School (Can Maiol) to talk to the students and visibilize women scientists, within the initative "Nuestras científicas: Jornada de investigadoras actuales y futuras" of the CSIC-Catalunya. The initiative appeared on the TVE1 news programme "L'informatiu" at 2 pm on 11 February 2019. Look at it here, from minute 16:04!
The CSIC Delegation in Catalunya wants to contribute to the promotion of scientific vocations in young girls, and facilitate the contact between them and the scientists from the nearby research centers. For this reason, an educational action in the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February) is organized, consisting on school visits by some CSIC researchers, who will explain their research projects and their life as a scientist to primary school students.
Within the programme "A researcher in your classroom" (Un investigador a la teva aula), researchers from the ICMAB can spend a class at one secondary or primary school and show the students what it is like to be a scientist and the research in nanomaterials performed at our Institute.
Arántzazu González, Ramon y Cajal researcher at ICMAB and participant of the program "A Researcher in your classroom" was at two primary schools in November, in the framework of the "Science Week" to show the students what is a scientist and what type of research we do at the ICMAB.
The programme A researcher in your classroom "Un investigador a la teva aula" brought Imma Ratera, researcher at the NANOMOL group, to the secondary highschool INS Alba del Vallès, in Sant Fost de Campsentelles (Vallès Oriental) on 18 October 2018.
Why do students from an Art and Design University are interested in science? Well, why not? New research in materials science will have a great influence in our future devices, electronic devices, tools, objects... Materials science is everywhere! The students from EINA - Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona
had the chance to have researcher Marta Mas-Torrent
, from the NANOMOL
group at ICMAB, showing the research in materials science of our Institute through the program "A researcher in your classroom"
(Un investigador a la teva aula) on May 16, 2018.
The program "A researcher in your classroom" brought Prof. Anna Roig to Lliçà d'Amunt, at Institut Lliçà (Tuesday, 3 February), and Dr. Agustín Mihi to Institut Dr. Puigvert de Sant Andreu in Barcelona (Wednesday, 4 February). Both audiences were secondary school students of 4t ESO.
Andrés Gómez has spent one hour and a half with students aged 10-11 years old (5è de Primària) at the Sant Joan Baptista school, in La Barceloneta (Barcelona) on 29 November 2017. Andrés Gómez, specialist and responsible for the Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) laboratory at ICMAB, explained the kids the mysteries of science, nanotechnology, and even made some lab experiments.
L'activitat de divulgació científica "Un investigador a la teva aula"
va portar Esther Barrena
, del Group of Physical Chemistry of Surfaces and Interfaces (SURFACES)
