Miquel Nuez i Martínez

Hey, I’m Miquel from Sabadell. I got both my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and my MD in chemical research at UAB. My master’s thesis consisted in the development of ruthenium nanocatalysts for the sustainable production of hydrogen using sunlight. Recently, I started my PhD project under the supervision of prof. Clara Viñas to study the carboranes and their applications. I enjoy music, videogames, reading, basketball, traveling and having a good talk. See you around!

 

Flonja Liko Pinto

Hello. I´m Flonja. I´m from Albania. I am currently working in the Nanomol group, under the supervision of José Vidal Gancedo. Before coming to ICMAB, I completed a double PhD degree in Nanomedicine and Pharmaceutical Innovation from the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS) in the University of Santiago de Compostela and in Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology from the Unit of Biomimetic Micro and Nanomedicines (MINT/ INSERM U1066 ) in the University of Angers. I hold a Msc in Radiopharmacy from the University of Hacettepe and I'm a Pharmacy graduate from the University of Ankara. See you soon.

 

Albert Harillo Baños

Hi! My name is Albert, I'm from Barcelona, but I live in Sant Cugat del Vallés. I did a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (UAB), and right now I'm studying a master in Advanced Nanotechnology and Nanoscience. I'll be doing my final thesis about organic photovoltaics with FOREMAT group in ICMAB.
In my free time I like to go out with friends, play videogames and LARP (live action role-playing).

Ariadna Soro Álvarez

My name is Ariadna Soro and I’m currently studying a double degree in Physics and Mathematics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Here at ICMAB, I’ll be working on my final degree project with the help of the Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures research group. Besides from studying, I also enjoy dancing, skiing and playing the guitar.

Gabriela Avila Morales

Hello,
my name is Gabriela Avila and I'm a biotechnologist engineer from Costa Rica. Right now I'm doing my master in Biochemistry, Molecular biology and Biomedicine in the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) .
For my master thesis i'll be working at the ICMAB, with the Nanomol group in developing Dynamic supramolecular hydrogels for cancer immunotherapies.
I am really excited to start working with them and I hope to have the chance to learn a lot during these nine months I'm staying here.
When I'm not in the lab I love doing outdoor activities, traveling, reading, hanging out with my friends, dancing and playing football.

 

 

 

Zsolt Kelemen

Hello! My name is Zsolt Kelemen. I did my PhD in Hungary and have joined at the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow under supervision of Prof. Clara  Viñas. My research interests include chemistry of low-valent compounds, ferrocene-containing systems and ionic liquids. My current project is to tune both the photoluminescence and conductive properties of new COP materials.

Hello! My name is Marta.This year I will finish up my 4th and last year of Physics degree at UAB. From September to December I will be in LASER Processing group doing the degree internship under the supervision of Angel Pérez.

Bernat Meseguer

Hello there!

My name is Bernat and I'm from Terrassa, near Barcelona. I'm on my last year of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

I'm currently working in a project involving lithium-oxygen batteries with carbon electrodes based on natural materials, under the supervision of Dr. Dino Tonti here at ICMAB; a very valuable experience which will form part of the final project for my degree.

My hobbies include mountaineering, reading, playing the guitar, and playing sports in general. I look forward to working with you!

Xavier Castellví Corrons

Hi all! I'm Xavier from Molins de Rei (Barelona). After finishing with my bachelor in nanoscience at UAB, I decided to start a master in biomedicine at UB. This latter brought me to this great research center called ICMAB in order to realize my master thesis on carboranes under the supervision of Rosario Nuñez. In my spare time I enjoy reading, having a good conversation with a beer in hand and travelling.

Halyna Volkova

Hi, I am Halyna from Ukraine. I am right now in my last year of PhD in Paris, and coming here for a two-months visit. Before PhD, I studied in double-degree master on materials science in France/Germany. Here In ICMAB I am planning to grow thin films of ferroelectric perovskite oxides (BaTiO3 solid solutions), and to study their photovoltaic properties, making the comparison to ceramic samples of these materials.
I like travelling (both city tourism and hiking in nature), discovering ethnic dance, art etc., interested in history, pagan and oriental religions, and practices like yoga.

 

Karen Lizzette Velásquez Méndez

Hello!
My name is Karen Lizzette Velásquez Méndez. I have a BSc in Chemistry from the National University of Colombia. Now, I'm a student of the Oficial Master in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine in the UAB.
In the ICMAB, I'm working in the Solid State Chemistry Research Group in the proyect "Synthesis and electronic properties of perovskite type oxynitrides" led by Dra. Amparo Fuertes. I like to meet new places and read in my free time.

 

 

Sara Battista

My name is Sara Battista and I'm a PhD student at University of L'Aquila. I did my bachelor's degree in chemistry at University of Rome "La Sapienza" and my master's degree in Chemical Science (organic chemistry) at University of L'Aquila. I'm working on liposomes used to develop a sensor for dosing biomarker enzymes and to vehiculate natural substances with farmacological activity. Now I'm doing a period of three months at ICMAB with the Nanomol group to investigate our formulations using a different methodology to increase stability and selectivity of systems.
In my freetime I like to ski, sing and walk with my dog.

 

 

 

Xiaodong Zhang

Hello there!
My name is Xiaodong Zhang and I come from Northeastern University in China. I had a background of Metallurgical engineering and did something about inorganic materials. Now I’m in the group of Crystallography of Magnetic and Electronic Oxide and Surfaces(CMEOS) under the guidance of Prof. José Luis García-Muñoz to extend my education career as a Ph.D. student. I’ll work on preparing different multiferroic oxides and analyzing their related properties. Hoping that I can do some novel and constructive work afterwards. In my spare time I like to play badminton, swimming, reading and travelling. I’d like to enjoy this new experience and spending good time with all of you!

Madhura Marathe

Hello all! My name is Madhura Marathe and I am from India. I have joined here at ICMAB as a postdoctoral researcher. I work in computational material science. My research interests include ferroelectric oxides and its application for electrocaloric effect. My current project is to study impact of strain in these materials as well as surface and interface effects.

Eulàlia Pujades Otero

Hello everyone!
My name is Eulàlia and I'm from Rubí (Barcelona). I got my BSc in Chemistry and my MSc in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Research at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. I'm going to stay at ICMAB as a PhD student during the following 3 years, in the Solid State Chemistry group under the supervision of Prof. Nieves Casañ-Pastor and Dr. Dino Tonti working in the "electrochemistry, electroactive materials - synthesis, doping, energy storage and bio" research line.
In my spare time I love travelling abroad, listening to music and playing it (I play the piano and the flute since I was a child) and I also love resolving puzzles and enigmas (I'm an "escape room" addict!!! You can ask me for more information about this kind of games :P).

Helloo! I'm Niki Joosten from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. I study Molecular Life Sciences and I'm doing my master thesis about Microcontact printing. The project is a collaboration between the University of Wageningen, Bionanotechnology and ICMAB under the supervision of Arancha Gonzalez. I will stay at ICMAB for 4 months. Hi, my name is Marc and I am a physicist from Barcelona. I did my bachelor's degree in Physics in Barcelona (UB) and I continued my studies by doing a master's degree in Physics in Berlin (Germany) (Freie Universität Berlin). Mikko Kataja

Hello everyone! I'm Mikko Kataja and I come from Finland, where I did my PhD in Aalto University on magneto-optically active plasmonic nanoparticles. I am now in ICMAB in Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures research group to explore the possibilities that active oxide materials, such as ferromagnetic and ferroelectric oxides, offer in the field of optics, especially for active nanoscale optical devices. In my freetime, I enjoy cooking and board games.

Valentin Natarov

Hello everyone! My name is Valentin Natarov.  I am master student (Chemistry) of Faculty of Chemistry of Belarusian State University (Minsk, Belarus). From the end December 2016 to the end of February 2017 I’ll be having a 2 month internship in the group of Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites (N&N). My work will be devoted to synthesis and characterization of bismuth oxide / iron oxide / silica nanocomposites for biomedical applications. I also like traveling and listen to jazz music.
