ICMAB has been recognized with the prestigious "Severo Ochoa" Center of Excellence Award

The Institute will receive one million euros per year for the next four years to develop the research program “Smart FUNtional MATerials for social grand challenges” (FUNMAT). The grand challenges to be addressed are: Clean and secure energy, Smart and sustainable electronics and Smart nanomedicine.

This Excellence Award recognized the international leadership of the center and places ICMAB in the list of the top research centers in Spain.

I got my degree in Chemistry from Universitat de les Illes Balears, my master in pharmacy from Universidad de Granada and now I am starting my PhD in the ICMAB. I am working in Inorganic Materials and Catalysis research group with Professor Francesc Teixidor.

Qiaoming Zhang

Hi! My name is Qiaoming Zhang from China. I graduated from Southwest University, and I got my master degree in Physics in 2012. I've worked in the Southwest University for 3 years. Hello! My name is Siddhi Bianca Camila Lama. I'm from New York City, and I'm a PhD student with the MIT Portugal programme (joint degree between University of Lisboa and University of Aberdeen). I'll be at ICMAB working with Nieves Casañ-Pastor until the end of 2015. I love to travel, go to music festivals, and have gastronomic adventures. See you around :)

Hey! I'm Adriana Kyvik, I just finished my 5-years degree in Trondheim (Norway) in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology and will now start working at Nanomol, which I look forward to! I enjoy sports, cooking, dancing trraveling and learning languages among others things.

Hello! My name is Antonio Marcos Helgueira de Andrade (Teco). I’m from Brazil and I’m Professor at UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul). I’ll stay at ICMAB for 1 year as Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Laboratory of Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures. I’m here with financial support by CAPES, Brazil. I'm Cristiano, I've got my master degree in Supramolecular chemistry in Italy at the University of Pavia. I've joined the ICMAB on July as a scholarship holder. Right now I'm working in the Superconducting Materials and Nanostructures at Large scale Group. My work deals with polymer assisted deposition of magnetic oxide films.

Hi! 

My name is Carlos Pintado, I'm a Spanish student and I've just finished my A level studies. This year I'm going to start the Biology degree at UAB. 

During my last course I did a research project for high school at analitical chemistry department (UAB) and I won an award: spend one or two weeks in a research group. That's the reason I'm in NANOMOL group during this summer under supervising of their members. I'm learing and watching their current job with nanomaterials and I found it fascinating!

Nanomedicina per tractar el peu diabètic

"Nanomedicina" és una paraula nova, però que cada vegada sentirem més. Es basa en l'administració de fàrmacs mitjançant unes partícules molt petites. Actuen directament sobre el lloc de l'organisme, de manera que són més eficaços. Amb aquest sistema, investigadors catalans han trobat una nova manera de tractar úlceres com les de l'anomenat "peu diabètic".
