Zsolt Kelemen

Hello! My name is Zsolt Kelemen. I did my PhD in Hungary and have joined at the Laboratory of Inorganic Materials as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow under supervision of Prof. Clara  Viñas. My research interests include chemistry of low-valent compounds, ferrocene-containing systems and ionic liquids. My current project is to tune both the photoluminescence and conductive properties of new COP materials.

As we already announced,  Andrés Gómez and Guillermo de Andrés Iglesias, from ICMAB, have been selected as finalists with their project “BRIDG3D: Imprimiendo puentes en 3D” in the XVIII Edition of "CiencIa en Acción" in the category "Science and Technology". Well, the FINAL day has arrived: tomorrow, Andrés and Guillermo will head to Izarra Centre in Ermua (Vizcaya, Basque Country) to defend their project in front of many others, from 6 to 8 October 2017

Judith Guasch, awarded with a leader position of a Max Planck Partner Group

The ICMAB researcher Judith Guasch has been appointed Leader of a Max Planck Partner Group (Dynamic Biomimetics for Cancer Immunotherapy) in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research (Heidelberg, Germany). This position, started this same 2017, strengthens the collaboration of ICMAB with the Max Planck Society through the research that Judith is performing, which is based on the development of biomimetic lymph nodes to help improving novel adoptive cell therapies, specially those designed to treat cancer.

Imaging how magnetism goes surfing

  • Using ALBA’s synchrotron light, researchers have been able to visualise deformation (sound) waves in crystals and measured the effect on nanomagnetic elements.
  • The study, published today in Nature Communications, uses the accelerators’ time structure to record time resolved images with a resolution of 80 picoseconds.
  • The methodology offers a new approach for analysing dynamic strains in other research fields: nanoparticles, chemical reactions, crystallography, etc.

Hello all! My name is Madhura Marathe and I am from India. I have joined here at ICMAB as a postdoctoral researcher. I work in computational material science. My research interests include ferroelectric oxides and its application for electrocaloric effect. My current project is to study impact of strain in these materials as well as surface and interface effects.

Milena Sulzbach

Hey there,

My name is Milena Sulzbach and I am brazilian. In Brasil, I studied Physics and acquired my Bachelor's and Master's degree from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Now, I have started my PhD in ICMAB under the supervision of Prof. Fontcuberta in the Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures group. In my free time, I enjoy walking, listen music, reading and travelling to new places with my friends.

Nanotechnology enters the realm of superconductors | CORDIS

This post features one of the articles published at CORDIS about the EUROTAPES project, which main goal is to develop superconducting tapes to improve energy efficiency in Europe. The SUMAN group, here at ICMAB, has actively participated in this European project, in a consortium that consists of 20 partners from 8 member states - 6 universities, 6 institutes, 1 technological center and 8 industrial companies.

The video "A story on Bacterial Cellulose" among the Top 15 critically acclaimed of the JoVE contest: Film Your Research

Last June 2017, Anna May Masnou and Sole Roig, from the Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites Group (NN), filmed a video for the JoVE contest: Film your research. Although the video, entitled "A Story on Bacterial Cellulose", did not make it to the final, the video made it to the Top 15 critically acclaimed videos by the jury, among hundreds of other submissions in this internatinal science communication contest.
