PhD Thesis Defense by Bernhard Dörling on 8th June at 11:00 am

The PhD Researcher Bernhard Dörling, from the NANOPTO group will defend his PhD thesis:

Title: "Conjugated Materials for Thermoelectrics and Photovoltaics"

Date:  Thursday 8th June
Time: 11:00 am
Place: Sala d'Actes Carles Miravitlles - ICMAB
Abstract: This thesis explores ways of how interactions between organic materials can be exploited to obtain additional functionality in a simple manner, without the need for complex processing. The work focuses on materials such as conjugated polymers and carbon nanotubes, and simple solution-based deposition methods such as blade coating. The obtained results include the development of a process that allows to tune the majority carrier type in organic thermoelectric materials, and the application of spherical crystalline superstructures of semiconducting polymers as intrinsic polarization sensors.

Supervisors:

Dr. Mariano Campoy-Quiles (NANOPTO group, ICMAB)
Dr. Miquel Garriga Bacardi (NANOPTO group, ICMAB)

PhD committee:

President: Paul Lacharmoise (Eurecat)
Secretary: Javier Rodríguez Viejo (UAB)
Vocal: Mario Caironi (Center for Nano Science and Technology, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia)
