Sign up before 9 January 2023 to the III Conference AMIT-CAT on "Women in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology" to be held in Barcelona.

The DONESNANO2023 conference is organized by AMIT-CAT, Association of Women Researchers and Technologists in Catalonia (AMIT-CAT) and is sponsored by the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC).

The conference will take place on Wednesday, 8 February 2023, at the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC) in Barcelona.

DONESNANO2023 will be a meeting point to share experiences and knowledge in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The seminar “Què és la normalitat? Cursa cap a la transició energètica i un ús sostenible dels recursos naturals” will occur on 20 December 2021 at the Institut de Diagnosi Ambiental i Estudis de l’Aigua (IDAEA-CSIC).

Researchers have until 15 January 2022 to submit their abstracts for EuroBoron9, organized this year by ICMAB researchers from the Inorganic Materials & Catalysis Group (LMI) group

The TNT 2021 conference will occur between 4-8 October of this year 2021, and you can still apply to present a poster or an oral presentation!

On 22 June 2021, from 4 to 6:30 pm, the SCN2 (Catalan Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology) will celebrate the second edition of the event 'Nanotechnology and Industry for PhD researchers'.

The aim of the event is to talk about nanotechnology applied to the field of industry and business. This year the event counts with the participation of three spin-offs from ICN2, ICMAB and IMB-CNM: InBrain Neuroelectronics, Nanomol Technologies and Energiot, who will explain us their process of technology transfer.

Nora Ventosa i Rull will give the presentation speech as a full member of the Science and Technology Section of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC) on 7 June 2021, at 7 pm.

 The Gender Equality working group of the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Alliance centers and units organized an event on 26 May 2021, which is now available on Youtube.

On Wednesday 28 April 2021, the ICMAB will be at the XV Virtual Business Forum "Fira d'Empreses" organized by the many science faculties of the University of Barcelona (UB). If you are a student or a researcher and would like to do an internship or work with us, come and visit us and we will inform you, from 10 am from 4 pm. 

The conference, open to everyone interested, will take place on Monday, 8 Februrary 2021, through the Youtube channel of the association, and is in the framework of 11F, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

The 33rd International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS) 2020 conference, organized by AIST Tsukuba (Japan) was held between 1 and 3 December 2020. Several ICMAB researchers from the Superconducting and Large Scale Nanostructures (SUMAN) group participated in the conference with many contributions. 

On Monday, 21 September 2020, the special workshop organized by the TU Darmstadt on "Women of Distinction in Materials Science" will take place online, via Zoom. Among the invited speakers, ICMAB researcher Clara Viñas will give the talk "Towards purely inorganic nanomaterials: new opportunities of boron clusters in biomaterials and medicine". 

As part of the celebration of the European Sustainable Energy Week, the Vice-presidency of International Relations of the CSIC has organized a campaign that aims to raise awareness about sustainable energy and its efficient use through the promotion of CSIC's European projects. Next Thursday 25 June at 1 pm the online round table will take place: "Accessible, clean and sustainable energy in the future: connecting the ODS and the European Green Deal", in which M. Rosa Palacín, ICMAB researcher, will participate.

On 17-20 May 2020 in Bordeaux (France), the 18th European Meeting on Supercritical Fluids will take place. The objective of the meeting is to gather together all the members of the supercritical fluid community and to give the opportunity to academic researchers and industrial practitioners to provide a complete and critical up-date on all the current technologies using Supercritical Fluids, their different applications as well as the latest innovations being developed. Abstract deadline for orals and posters is January 15, 2020.

Every year the UAB organizes the Nobel Prize 2019conferences to talk about the science topics of the Nobel Prize. This year, M. Rosa Palacín, ICMAB researcher, will give the talk about the Nobel Prize 2019 in Chemistry, which was given to J. B. Goodenough, M. S. Whittingham and A. Yoshino for the Lithium-ion Batteries. The talks will be on Tuesday, 10 December, at 12 pm at the "Sala d'actes". 

Anna Laromaine, researcher at the NN Group at ICMAB, and one of the Top 100 women leaders in Spain (MujeresyCía), will be at "El Pais Con Tu Futuro" event next 18-19 December in Madrid, to talk in front of thousands of students who are about to decide their future. Good luck, Anna!

The "Fira Recerca en Directe 2020", organized by the "Parc Científic de Barcelona" in collaboration with "la Caixa" Foundation, opens the Popular Election period, so everybody can vote for the projects that they would like to see in CosmoCaixa during the days of the faire (6-9 May 2020). One of the projects is proposed by the ICMAB and the Neuroscience Institute of the UAB (INc). The project is about "C. elegans, the ideal worm as a model organism to study diseases". Until 13 December you can vote for this project! 

On November 22-23, 2019, representatives from all of the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Excellence Centres and Units met at the ‘100xCiencia4’ Meeting in Donostia/San Sebastián (Spain) to share experiences around this year's topic, which is "What is science doing for you? Building bridges between science and society".

On Friday, 22 November 2019, the Kursaal Theater in Manresa hosted the Graduation Event of the 113 students that finalized the studies at the Escola Politècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Manresa (EPSEM) at the UPC Manresa. Xavier Obradors, ICMAB Director, was the "godfather" of the event, together with Ricard Font Hereu, President of the FGC. The event was a great celebration for the UPC students, who now face their future with multiple options!

Clara Viñas and Francesc Teixidor were in Sfax (Tunisia), where they gave Plenary Talks at the Fourth International Conference of Engineering Sciences for Biology and Medicine (ESBM 2019) and celebrated the opening of the new school year of the "École supérieure polytechnique internationale privée de Sfax-ESPIN" as partner professors. 

The First Annual Meeting of PhD researchers in Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona(TADeF) will take place next 20-21 November 2019 at the UAB Factulty of Science. From the ICMAB, Teresa Puig (SUMAN group) will give one of the keynote talks on "High Temperature Superconductors: Complex materials with novel physics opportunities". Martí Gibert, PhD researcher at the NANOPTO group, will participate in the meeting with the short talk "Near Infrared Organic Photodetectors based on Enhanced Charge Transfer State Absorption by Photonic Architectures". 

The E-MRS 2020 Spring Meeting at the foreseen dates (May 25-29) is CANCELLED and has to be POSTPONED.

The European Technology and Innovation Platform on Batteries, BatteRIes Europe, held its first General Assembly on 22 October 2019 in Brussels, Belgium. Following the launch of the platform in June 2019, the day was dedicated to setting up the ground of the European initiative supported by the European Commission that will shape the research ecosystem for batteries in Europe, through the election of its very first Governing Board. M. Rosa Palacín will be part of this Governing Board, in the area of "Future and Emerging Technologies". 

Directors of SOMMa Centres discussed at CNIO (Spanish National Cancer Research Center) in Madrid, the network's best practices in gender equality, to implement a change of culture that allows gender equality to be integrated into strategic science decisions. From the ICMAB, Riccardo Rurali, ICMAB Deputy Director and Coordinator of the Gender Equality Committe at the ICMAB, attended the event.

On 22-23 November, the new edition of the 100xCiencia meeting, the meeting of the Severo Ochoa centers and María de Maeztu units will take place in Donostia/San Sebastián! Nora Ventosa, researcher at the Nanomol Group will represent the ICMAB at the SOMMa General Assembly, and will give a talk on Technology Transfer in Nanomedicine on Saturday, 23 November in the morning (11 am). 

On the weekend 26 and 27 October 2019, the "Parc de la Ciutadella" (UPDATE: Moll de la Fusta) in Barcelona will be full of science! The 13th edition of the "Science Festival" (Festa de la Ciència) will take place from 9 am to 6 pm! The ICMAB participates with some micro-talks, and with a stand with ElectroWoman, explaining the wonders of Molecular Electronics for different devices! Will you join us? Come with us and participate with your friends and family to the many activities prepared.

The goal of the first Grenoble Barcelona Twin Conference, celebrated at the CNRS Campus in Grenoble on 23-25 October, is to put together Barcelona and Grenoble scientists working on condensed matter, quantum physics, materials science and electrical engineering. Many ICMAB researchers have participated in the meeting! 

Three days to talk about communication, science and outreach, at the University of Burgos, from 9 to 11 October 2019, organized by the AECC (Asociación Española de Comunicación Científica) and the University of Burgos. Call for proposals and registration is open!

October 9, 2019, is the World Nanotechnology Day. The working group on "Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology" of the Advanced Materials Cluster (Clúster de Materials Avançats de Catalunya) has decided to present on that day the platform NanoHUB.cat. The LEITAT will host the event, which will take place from 9 am to 12:30 pm. 

On 27 September, during the Young Researchers' Night in CosmoCaixa, you will be able to enjoy the dramatised reading created by the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona. The play tells a story that takes place in the palace of Madame Châtelet, during the 18th century. Châtelet was a French mathematician and physicist. In chronological order, a series of wise women from the history of science will enter her salon, and will explain us their lives and discoveries.

In the afternoon of Monday, 9 September 2019, a meeting was held between the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the research centres and units distinguished with the certificate of excellence Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu, and representatives of 15 autonomous communities. The purpose of the meeting at the Ministry was to highlight the impact of the Severo Ochoa - María de Maeztu programme, and to expose its benefits for the consolidation of excellence research of the different autonomous communities.
