A set of different generations of porphyrin-cored poly(aryl ether) dendrimers decorated with 4, 8, 16, or 32closo-carborane clusters are obtained by controlled regioselective hydrosilylation in high yield. Dendrimers are fully characterized by IR-FTR, NMR, and elemental analysis; additionally, the hydrodynamic radius (RH) for some dendrimers has been estimated from diffusion coefficients determined by DOSY NMR experiments. The photoluminescence properties of these dendrimers are not largely affected by the functionalization with carboranes.
