On 21 September 2017, we released an official statement, which we also published in our website:
The Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona (RACAB), of which Prof. Xavier Obradors (ICMAB Director) and Prof. Carles Miravitlles (previous ICMAB Director) are members, have published the following statement in their website:
The Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona, in view of the situation we live in, and from the plurality of its members, express its defence of democracy, coexistence and dialogue. In this sense, it expresses its support for the Catalan institutions and vindicates the freedom and peace that have always characterized our society, and demands its national singularity, its language and its culture to be valued. (RACAB)
On the other hand, the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC), has also publised a statement to defend the elected officers, politicians and citizens in general, defend the Catalan institutions, and condemn the antidemocratic procedures and the state of exception in Catalonia.
