The first event of this celebration will be on Monday 15 January, at 7 pm, with the talk on "Feynman: Nobel, bongos and topless" byClaudi Mans, which willbe held at the Biblioteca Vila de Gràcia. This will be the first of a series of 8 talks that will take place in different libraries of Barcelona, within the cycle "Visions de Ciència: Feynman i l'evolució de la ciència al segle XX". The central activity will take place on 11 May 2018, the day of Feynman's birthday, with a seminar from Prof. David Kaiser, American physicist and historian of science specialist in Feynman. On 9 May 2018, Prof. Keiser will also give a talk at Campus UAB. Moreover, a series of Feynman Talks will be organized with some research centers ans institutions of the UAB Campus (ICMAB, CNM, ICN2, IFAE) and the ALBA Synchrotron.
EspaiNANO presented the Feynman Year at the Ateneu Barcelonès on 28 November 2017. The presentation included a talk from Toni Pou, a humorous video from Jordi Notó, and a roundtable moderated by ICMAB's Communication & Outreach Officer, Anna May, and which included Àngela Garcia (eduxarxa), Claudi Mans (UB), Joan Mendoza (UB), Víctor Puntes (ICN2-VHIR) and Pau Senra (kdV). The roundtable was followed by the presentation of the activities for 2018, by Yolanda Fernández and Mara Carmona, including talks, contests, exhibitions and much more. The conference, open to everyone interested, will take place on Monday, 8 Februrary 2021, through the Youtube channel of the association, and is in the framework of 11F, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The meeting, held as part of the European H2020 project LeTSGEPs, was organized by the ICM (Institut de Ciències del Mar) in coordination with the CSIC Equality Committee and the CSIC Women and Science Committee. The ICMAB was present in the event to explain our experience in Gender Equality, after receiving the Equality Distinction in 2018, and to share and learn good practices in Gender Equality.
The 33rd International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS) 2020 conference, organized by AIST Tsukuba (Japan) was held between 1 and 3 December 2020. Several ICMAB researchers from the Superconducting and Large Scale Nanostructures (SUMAN) group participated in the conference with many contributions.
Concepció Rovira, ICMAB researcher at the Nanomol Group, gave on Thursday, 26 November 2020, a Conference entitled "Can we open a new era of electronics with the power of molecules" in the framework of the Science Thursdays at IEC (Institut d'Estudis Catalans). The talk is now available on the IEC Youtube Channel.
The 18th of November is the date chosen to highlight the discriminations that people in the LGBT+ collective suffer in the field of science and a day to show the support to this community. In face of this discrimination, members of the PRISMA association offer 10 measures that we can apply to help fight prejudice and lessen its consequences.
