On December 2017, Dr. Enric Canadell, Research Professor at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB), became elected member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona (RACAB). Two other researchers from CSIC, Dr. Xavier Querol (IDAEA-CSIC), and Dr. Francesc Piferrer (ICM-CSIC) were also elected, together with Dra. Fàtima Bosch (UAB) and Dr. Roderic Guigó (CRG). Finally, Dra. Fabiola Gianotti (CERN) was elected as correspondent member.

Professor Jordi Rius has been elected member of the Board of Directors of the ICDD (International Center of Diffraction Data). The ICDD is an institution related to the history of the identification of materials (inorganic, minerals and organic) from the results of the powder diffraction.

S’han adjudicat les Càtedres de Transferència “Parc de Recerca UAB – Santander” 2008-2009 i una d’elles ha estat per a la investigadora de l’ICMAB Nora Ventosa.
Les consideracions que s'han fet constar són: “Per la seva trajectòria en la transferència de coneixements en l’àmbit de la ciència i les tecnologies dels nous materials, concretament en l’aplicació d’aproximacions nanotecnològiques, i per la seva proposta d’anàlisi de la viabilitat tècnica i comercial de la instauració de processos verds per l’obtenció de materials moleculars micro- i nano-estructurats, en els processos productius de fabricació de principis actius farmacèutics”.
