El Laboratori de la Neu proposa una tecnologia d’innivació única al món

El Laboratori de la Neu és un projecte conjunt entre l'ICMAB-CSIC, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) i l’empresa TechnoAlpin, líder en tecnologia d’innivació. Compta també amb el suport financer dels fons Next Generation EU, atorgat per l'Agencia Estatal de Investigación. Aquest projecte pioner al món té com a objectiu principal estudiar l’aplicació d’una nova tecnologia per a produir neu d’una manera més sostenible, amb menys temps, utilitzant menys aigua i amb menys energia. Desenvolupada amb èxit en laboratori pel Dr. Albert Verdaguer, científic titular a l’ICMAB, i l’equip de TechnoAlpin mitjançant l’aplicació de les últimes tècniques de producció amb equip tecnològicament innovadors, les proves es traslladaran ara a estacions d’FGC Turisme en condicions i entorn reals.

"Key breakthrough in search for gasoline replacement" by Pepe Giner et al. hit the American TV

The article published in JACS by Pepe Giner et al. in which the international team reports a MOF (metal-organic framework) that can separate biobutanol from the biomass fermentation products has received much attention in the American media, since there is a high demand for gasoline, and one of the research collaborators was from Oregon State University.

Judit Morlà talks about the Coronavirus on “Som-hi” on TAC12 TV

On 2 April 2020, ICMAB researcher Judit Morlà, from the Molecular Nanoscience and Organic Materials (NANOMOL) group, had her first appearance in “Som-hi”. Her section aired on tac12, a TV channel that can be tuned in from any point in the Tarragonès and is also available online. “Som-hi” is a television magazine that offers local news and information as well as some light educative sections.

Anna Laromaine and the Matheroes on TV ¡Qué animal! (La2 RTVE)

On Saturday, 5 October 2019, we could see in the programme ¡Qué animal! from La2 RTVE, the researcher Anna Laromaine, from the Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites group, talking about the "supermaterial" bacterial cellulose. The programme was about animals with superpowers, so our Matheroes: the supermaterials of the future, were also featured in it! Thank you to all the ¡Qué animal! team!

ICMAB nanomaterials and minerals at the TV children's show "Catakrac" from Betevé

One of our workshops for primary school students called "Become a Materials Detective" is the star of the TV children's show "Catacrak" from Barcelona Televisió (betevé), showcasted on Sunday 31 March 2019! Students from the school "Escola Mestre Morera" from Barcelona came to ICMAB to participate in the activity, in which they are introduced to the nanoworld and to the daily life of minerals.
