The initiative for IYPT2019 is supported by IUPAC in partnership with the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), European Association for Chemical and Molecular Science (EuCheMS), the International Council for Science (ICSU), International Astronomical Union (IAU), and the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPS). It was submitted by numerous organizations from over 50 countries around the world. The official website is www.iypt2019.org.

In Catalonia, the initiative is coordinated by the Societat Catalana de Química (SCQ). Nora Ventosa, researcher at ICMAB, is the Vicepresident of the SCQ. The ICMAB is one of the coorganizing entitites, and will participate in the organization of some events at our Institute and in other places. The activities and blog are gathered in the website www.taulaperiodica.cat and in the Twitter account @LTPeriodica.

5 February 2019: Inauguration IYPT

The inauguration of the year will be on 5 February 2019 at the Institut del Teatre. Other events, such as a conference cycle in the Biblioteques de Barcelona, can be found here. 

8 Feburary 2019: Roundtable about "Chemistry and Health"

On Friday, 8 February 2019, Anna May Masnou, ICMAB Communication & Outreach Officer, will coordinate the roundtable "Química i salut. La química és la resposta", which will take place in CosmoCaixa at 10 am, and will include the participation of Ernest Giralt (IRB), Olga López (IQAC) and José Ignacio Borrell Bilbao (IQS-URL).

On the same day, 8 February 2019, at 12 pm, Rosa Palacín, ICMAB researcher, will participate in the roundtable "Emmagatzemar energia. Molt més que carregar el mòbil", which will take place in CosmoCaixa with the participation of Pedro Gómez-Romero (ICN2), Gonzalo Guirado-López (UAB), Jordi Llorca (UPC-BarcelonaTech) and Rosa Palacín (ICMAB), coordinated by Àlex Argemí (ICN2). 

25 February 2019: Seminar by Jaume Casabó

On Monday, 25 February 2019 at 12 pm, Jaume Casabó, Chemistry Professor at the UAB will give the Periodical Lecture at the ICMAB entitled"The Periodic Table of the Chemical Elements: The endless story". You are all invited to attend!
