Second edition of the pairing program between Spanish MPs and researchers
The second edition of the matching programme between deputies and research staff took place on 26, 27 and 28 February at the Congress of Deputies.
One of the novelties of this edition has been the inclusion of a scientific-literate couple, in order to expand the possibilities of exchanging knowledge with other professions in the hemicycle.
Of the researchers participating in this program, one was Sergi Riera Galindo (member of ICMAB), and was paired with Teslem Andala Ubbi, member of the Parlamientary Group SUMAR.
During the day of February 27, the scientists paired with the deputies accompanied the latter in a morning of work to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences between both communities. In the afternoon, there was a training session on the functioning of the Parliament, and especially of the Congress, by the lawyers Pedro Peña and Bárbara Cosculluela.
The second edition of the programme concluded on 28 February with a visit to the Plenary and some final reflections, highlighting the importance of these initiatives in promoting an effective dialogue between science and policy, for the sake of more informed decision-making.
