The European Researchers' Night (Nit Europea de la Recerca) is celebrated throughout Europe on the last Friday of September, with the aim of bringing science, research and technology closer to the public. In Catalonia, under the theme "Research, heritage of all", outreach activities will take place on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 September in Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida, Girona, Blanes and Vic, among other places.
The ICMAB will participate with some highschool talks on Friday morning, with a nanoscience workshop and a Speaker's Cornet talk in CosmoCaixa on Friday evening, and in the Biblioteca Sagrada Família on Saturday morning with "Madame Châtelet and her Instagram followers".
On Friday, 28 September, in the morning, in different primary and secondary schools. Two researchers from ICMAB will participate:
In the evening, a bunch of entitites will participate in different workshops and talks at the science museum CosmoCaixa for the Young Researchers' Night. The ICMAB will participate with a workshop on materials science open to everybody!
Vine a descobrir-ho!
Scientific 8-min talks by some scientists experts in different fields. From ICMAB we will have the physicist Josep Fontcuberta i Griñó, who will give the talk "Electrons i espins: una parella més eficient si està trancada" (from 21:30 to 22:30 h).
On Saturday, 29 September, the ICMAB will present the dramatized lecture "Madame Châtelet and her Instagram followers" about scientific women along history at the Biblioteca Sagrada Família, at 1 pm. This activity is open to the general public. The play lasts around 45-50 minutes and is followed by a debate with the audience.
The European Researchers' Night in Catalonia is organized by the University of Barcelona (UB), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat de Girona (UdG), Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Universitat de Lleida (UdL) and Global Health Institute of Barcelona (ISGlobal). The events are supported by the European Commission as part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, a programme to promote careers of European research staff.
A call for researchers was open to participate in different ways:
DATE: Friday, September 28, 2018 - Saturday, September 29, 2018
