Matí de la Recerca a escoles i instituts

On Friday, 28 September, in the morning, in different primary and secondary schools. Two researchers from ICMAB will participate:

  • CO2 ¿héroe o villano?, Ana Maria López-Periago (ICMAB)

Nit Jove de la Recerca a CosmoCaixa

In the evening, a bunch of entitites will participate in different workshops and talks at the science museum CosmoCaixa for the Young Researchers' Night. The ICMAB will participate with a workshop on materials science open to everybody!

Schedule of the workshops: 19:30h – 19:55 h; 20:30 – 20:55h and 21:30 – 21:55h.

Vine a descobrir-ho!

Scientific Corner - Microxerrades (At the "Base Antàrtica")

Scientific 8-min talks by some scientists experts in different fields. From ICMAB we will have the physicist Josep Fontcuberta i Griñó, who will give the talk "Electrons i espins: una parella més eficient si està trancada" (from 21:30 to 22:30 h).

Madâme Châtelet i les seves seguidores a Instagram

On Saturday, 29 September, the ICMAB will present the dramatized lecture "Madame Châtelet and her Instagram followers" about scientific women along history at the Biblioteca Sagrada Família, at 1 pm. This activity is open to the general public. The play lasts around 45-50 minutes and is followed by a debate with the audience.

Organization

The European Researchers' Night in Catalonia is organized by the University of Barcelona (UB), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat de Girona (UdG), Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Universitat de Lleida (UdL) and Global Health Institute of Barcelona (ISGlobal). The events are supported by the European Commission as part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, a programme to promote careers of European research staff.

Call to participate

A call for researchers was open to participate in different ways:

  • Participation in the "Morning of research at primary and secondary schools" and give a talk in one of these centers.
  • Participation at the Young Researchers' Night (Friday, September 28, at 7 pm, at the CosmoCaixa in Barcelona) with a microtalk (Scientific Corner). Coordinated by ISGlobal and presented by Raul Toran, ISGlobal's science outreach officer, there will be three sessions of 50 minutes, with five presentations of seven minutes each with ten minutes for final questions. The sessions will be at 8:30 pm, 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm In total 15 researchers will participate explaining their research to the audience.
