Abstract:

ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) is today the biggest R&D Project in the world and under construction in Cadarache, South France. ITER demands the procurement of both structural and functional materials under strict Nuclear Project Quality Assurance.

ITER material candidates are structural nuclear grade steels and metallic alloys (SS-316L-IG, RAFM (Eurofer, F82H), V-5Ti), high flux extreme materials (Be-, W- and Cu- alloys), tritium breeding materials (Lithiated materials 6Li enriched as Pb-Li eutectic or Li-ceramics (Li2O, Li4SiO4, LiAlO2) or functional insulators and coatings (SiC, Al2O3, MgO, BeO, MgAl2O4, AlN, Si3N4, SiO2, diamond, etc).

The seminar is intended to provide of global overview of ITER Material R&D under the procurement prospective of ITER construction and operation.
