On Wednesday, 19 December 2018, we celebrated Christmas at our Institute. We had a full programme consisting in a Christmas lecture on "Science dissemination 2.0", then the ICMAB choir sang the Christmas songs, and then we had some Christmas finger food for all our staff.
Xavier Lasauca, from the Direcció General de Recerca (GenCat), gave some insights in the use of twitter and blogs for resarchers, and gave us a lot of information and resources about the use of social media for researchers, to increase the impact and networking of the research. His presentation can be found in slideshare, and in his blog "L'ase quàntic".
After the lecture, the stars of the day were the ICMAB choir, who sang for us a variety of songs. This year, they also sang songs from Queen, and ended with Jingle Bells!
The ICMAB choir was born as a form of integrating the newcomers at ICMAB and it has really fulfilled its mission. The choir members are of all ages, and are from all the range of researchers and staff of our institute: PhD fellows, postdocs, PIs, administration staff, technicians, and even people who are now not working at ICMAB anymore, but want to continue being among us! If anyone is interested in joining it, remember that they rehearse every Wednesday from 2 to 3 pm!
After that, our Director Prof. Xavier Obradorsavier Obradors gave a short speech, in which he announced that Prof. Carles Miravitlles, founder and former director of ICMAB (from 1986 to 2008) and already will not be coming to the ICMAB so regularly. Thank you Carles for all the work done for this Institue! Enjoy!
After that, we could enjoy a Christmas buffet while sharing some experiences and wishing us happy holidays!
