Elena Oleshkevich, previous PhD fellow supervised by Clara Viñas at the LMI group, and currently working at the Norwegian company Jotun, has been awarded with one of the "Producto del Año 2020" awards for the industrial project "Majestic Pure Color" paint, selected as the best innovative product of 2020 in the sector of coatings and paintings.
The "Producto del Año 2020" awards were announced on 20 January 2020 at the cermony at the Teatre Lliure. Every year, about 50 products are selected by the consumeres as "Producto del Año" in different sectors. This year, the paint "Majestic Pure Color" was selected the best innovative product in the coatings sector.
"The award "Producto del Año" was granted to the paint that we created in JOTUN. It was my first industrial project where I used A LOT everything I learned from magnetic nanoparticles" says a happy Elena Oleshkevich, after receiving the award.
"Working hard and everything I learnt from you (at the LMI group) during my PhD now gives very nice "fruits"!" adds Elena.
This is the first industrial project in which Elena Oleshkevich participates. The paint "Majestic Pure Color" is an "emulsion-based paint, extra-matte and with an excelent color definition" by the Jotun Group.
The Jotun Group is a Norwegian chemicals company dealing mainly in decorative paints and performance coatings. As of December 2019, the company had a presence in more than 100 countries around the world, with more than 10,000 employees, 63 companies in 45 countries, and 37 production facilities in 21 countries (data from Wikipedia).

This is the second time that an ex-PhD fellow from the LMI group receives a professional distinction after their participation in the industrial sector. The first was Pilar Anglés, working in DERYPOL, where she received an award for the developement of an environmentally friendly floculant acrylamide-free.
