Participants can submit up to 12 photographs (with a maximum of 4 per category) in the following categories:
- Artistic – Open theme, no photomontages
- Scientific – Photographs related to scientific results, experiments, or science in general
- Fauna and Flora – Images of plant and animal species in their natural environment
The deadline for submissions is May 26, 2025. All photos must be sent by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and must include the author’s name (to be revealed only at the end of the contest), the category, the title of the image, and a short description (max. 50 words) without identifying the author.
Once all photographs have been received, they will be uploaded to a Google Photos album for a popular vote open to all ICMAB staff until May 30, 2025. The 15 most voted images will move on to the final stage, where an external jury will select the winners.
There will be one winner per category and two honorable mentions. The prizes will be awarded during the ICMAB party on June 6, 2025.
In addition, all selected images will be included in the upcoming ICMAB open-access scientific image platform, aimed at promoting science through visual storytelling.
