A group of researchers lead by Dr. Clara Viñas, from the Inoganic Mateials & Catalysis Laboratory group at ICMAB, has recently published a paper on Chemistry-A European Journal that has been qualified as Hot Paper and, moreover, it's cover has become a Frontispiece.
A Hot Paper is a paper in which the reviewers have stated, after their evaluation, that it is a paper of high interest, and is recommended for publishing without further changes. A Frontispiece is an illustrated cover, like the one you can see in this paper.
The paper, entitled "Small-Molecule Kinase-Inhibitors-Loaded Boron Cluster as Hybrid Agents for Glioma-Cell-Targeting Therapy" (Chem. Eur. J. 2017, 23, 9233 – 9238), reports new borane hybrid molecules (anilinoquinazoline-icosahedral borane hybrids), which have been evaluated as glioma targeting for potential use in cancer therapy.
The study, performed by ICMAB researchers in collaboration with researchers from Uruguay, state that the boron carriers could be used to enrich glioma cancer cells with boron for cancer therapy, and that the anti-glioma activity depends on the liophilicy of the molecules (the ability of a compound to dissolve in fat, oil and non-polar solvents, contrarily to hidrophilicity).
We congratulate Dr. Clara Viñas and her team for this excellent paper, and cover!
