On Thursday, 14 March 2019, the ICMAB hosts the workshop on Gender Equality in Research Centers entitled "¿Y a mí, qué me aporta la igualdad?". The workshop is aimed for all the ICMAB staff (scientific, technical, administration, students...) and will take place from 8:45 am to 2 pm. Don't miss this opportunity to learn and interact with your colleagues about this topic that affects all of us!
As our Vicedirector, M. Rosa Palacín said when the CSIC recognized our work with the "Gender Equality Distinction":
"To receive this recognition by the CSIC is a reward to see that what we have done so far is worth it, and an incentive to keep working in this area. It is a recognition to the Gender Equality Committee and to all the initiatives from the ICMAB staff. We have achieved many things, but there is still much work to do!"
This workshop, organized by the Gender Equality Committee, is a first step to our committment with Gender Equality and to keep working in this area. The final aim is to gain knowledge about Gender Issues in Research Institutes and to be able to create an improved Gender Equality Plan for our Institute.
The other two CSIC Centers who received the recognitions of "Gender Equality" of the CSIC are invited to give a talk about their experience: Matilde Barón, Director of the Estación Experimental del Zaidín (EEZ-CSIC), and Rocío Vilar, Vicedirector at the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFC-CSIC).
We will also have Pilar López Sancho, from the "Women in Science" CSIC Committee, Paula Adam Bernad, from the AQuAS (Generalitat de Catalunya), and Carlos Frontera, fom our Gender Equality Committee, who will talk about the Committee's present and future actions and plans.
A roundtable with some ICMAB participants will debate about gender equality issues relevant for some topics in our center, such as mentoring, training, awards, working conditions or maternity leaves. All the participants and the audience are invited to give their opinions and proposals to improve the conditions.
See you on Thursday 14 March at ICMAB (Sala d'Actes Carles Miravitlles)!
