According to EcoDiario.es, the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB) increased from 170 to 202 employees from 30 November 2011 to 31 July 2017, which represents an increase of nearly 19 %.
However, the increase in staff has only occurred in two CSIC research centers: ICMAB, and INCIPIT (Instituto de Ciencas del Patrimonio), from 9 to 35 members this latter one. Nevertheless, there has been a general increase of staff in the vicepresidencies and in the "Secretarías generales adjuntas", from 356 to 457 employees (a 28 % increase).
The rest of the research centers, and in general, in all the CSIC, the number of staff members have decreased. In all the CSIC, from 12.928 to 11.112 members, which represents a decrease of 14 %. Moreover, at least 13 centers or units have had to close because there are no employees at the moment. This fact evidences the global decrease in scientific researchers at CSIC, the largest scientific institution in Spain.
