Sustainable Materials for Renewable Energy Applications (SURE 2022) is the name of the next summer school organized in the framework of both associations, EPNOE and ESEIA, and hosted by the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB, CSIC).

The event is especially designed for young researchers: Master's students, Ph.D. fellows and junior Postdocs, who are either engaged in or are interested in working on sustainable materials in the field of renewable energy: photovoltaics, batteries and supercapacitors, and other emerging technologies.

Aspects such as the role of renewables in the power system and their implementation in parts of Africa will also be addressed. The course will include keynote lectures by international experts and will allow plenty of time for discussion with the experts. A visit to ALBA Synchrotron, located near ICMAB is also scheduled.

There will also be a focus on entrepreneurship design thinking, creativity, innovation and technology transfer. Students attending the school will undertake an exercise to design their own start-up. The founder of FUELIUM, a successful start-up on eco-friendly batteries will give a lecture to inspire this activity and KATCH-UP: a circular economy game will be used to guide the students.

Register to the school before 15 May 2022 to secure a spot!

EPNOE and ESEIA have joined forces since 2020, and are working together for a better future.
