What is the JAE Intro ICU program?

The JAE Intro ICU (Introduction to Research at CSIC’s Institutes) is a prestigious internship program designed to introduce students to scientific research under the guidance of top researchers at CSIC institutes, including ICMAB. The program provides financial support and a unique chance to develop research skills in materials science, nanotechnology, chemistry, and physics.

ICMAB offers two research projects

We are pleased to announce our participation in the JAE Intro ICU 2025 program, offering two research fellowships for undergraduate and master's students interested in cutting-edge scientific projects:

• ICMAB-01: Many-body theory of light-matter interactions in quantum solids
  • Principal Investigator: Gervasi Herranz Casabona, MULFOX group
  • Duration: 5 months (May–September 2025, flexible)
  • Monthly stipend: €600 (Total: €3,000)
  • Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Physics, or a double degree in Physics-Chemistry or Physics-Mathematics, with a GPA of 8.5 or higher (on a scale of 0-10).
  • Candidates must be enrolled in or admitted to a master's program in Quantum Science and Technology or a Physics-related field.
    
    
• ICMAB-02: Preparation and characterization of thin films of magnetic materials with novel functionalities: Altermagnets
  • Principal Investigator: Lluís Balcells Argemí, ACNM group
  • Duration: 8 months (September 2025–April 2026, flexible)
  • Monthly stipend: €600 (Total: €4,800)
  • Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Science, Nanoscience, Physics-Chemistry, or Physics-Mathematics, with a GPA of 7.5 or higher (on a scale of 0-10).
  • Candidates must be enrolled in or admitted to a master's program in Science.

The application deadline follows the schedule outlined in the official call for the JAE Intro ICU 2025 fellowships. Interested students should apply within the first application period established in the official announcement (now extended to 25 April 2025).
