ICMAB Open Positions
Postdoc Position: experimental studies on EMF exposure patterns on C. elegans at ICMAB
Deadline: Oct 31, 2022
cThe Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites (NN) group is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the framework of the European project NextGEM.

Artur

The NextGEM project aims at assuring safety for EU citizens when employing existing and future EMF-based telecommunication. For that, NextGEM will provide a framework for the generation of health-relevant scientific knowledge and data on new scenarios of exposure to EMF in multiple frequency bands, and develop and validate tools for evidence-based risk assessment.
Within the NextGEM project, at the Group of Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites from the ICMAB-CSIC, we will carry out experimental studies on EMF exposure patterns on C. elegans. NextGEM will follow good laboratory practices (GLP) for experimental studies by developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including the 3R principle for in vivo experiments. The project will undertake repetition/confirmation studies for selected experimental conditions in independent laboratories and explore the possibility to identify candidate markers for risk assessment.
Requirements
We look for experts in C. elegans or small animal models that wish to embark on an exciting adventure combining electromagnetic fields and their assessment to help society any interaction. Candidates must demonstrate experience working with small animal models at the genetic and biochemistry level and they have to be able to travel for experimental work in Italy.
About the Group Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites
The Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites (NN) Group at ICMAB-CSIC, is an international and interdisciplinary group with broad expertise in the synthesis and characterization of materials and biomaterials. Additionally, we use the small animal C. elegans and its biochemical responses to evaluate materials, drugs and different stressors following the 3R principles for in vivo experiments in a traditional materials laboratory.
Details of the position
We offer a contract of at least 24 months position at our group funded by the European Project, NextGem.
Tentative Starting date: negotiable during mid-2022.
How to apply
Submit the following application documents to Anna Laromaine (- Resume or CV including a list of publications

Closing date for application
The recruitment process will be closed when a suitable candidate is found.
About ICMAB
The Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) is a multidisciplinary research center focused on cutting-edge research in functional advanced materials in the fields of ENERGY, ELECTRONICS, NANOMEDICINE and application fields yet to imagine. The ICMAB is integrated within the Barcelona Nanocluster in Bellaterra (BNC-b), a research network that includes the UAB, the CSIC (ICMAB, IMB-CNM and ICN2) and IRTA, part of the UAB Research Park of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (PRUAB) and the ALBA Synchrotron. The BNC-b aims to share advanced scientific equipment and promote and disseminate nanoscience and nanotechnology.
The ICMAB offers a complete range of scientific services, including a 10,000 class cleanroom (the Nanoquim Platform) that is open to interested parties, whether these are academic or from industry, and it participates in all kinds of educational and promotional activities. Many ICMAB researchers teach at the UAB Master's degree in Nanotechnology and Materials Science and also on the UAB degree on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
