"Supercritical fluid technology for delivery systems for food bioactives" by Feral Temelli (Tues, 18 June)

The Seminars and Training Committee kindly invites you to the following ICMAB Invited Seminar:

Supercritical fluid technology for delivery systems for food bioactives

by Feral Temelli, Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science, University of Alberta, Canada

Tuesday, 18 June 2019 @ 12 pm
ICMAB - Sala d'Actes Carles Miravitlles

Abstract & Bio:

Prof. Temelli’s research program at the University of Alberta focuses on the use of separation and conversion technologies for value-added processing of Canadian crops. Use of supercritical carbon dioxide technology, targeting lipid and nutraceutical components, involves various unit operations, including extraction, fractionation, reactions, membrane separation and particle formation techniques with the goal of novel process development based on a solid understanding of fundamentals.

Delivery systems for bioactives that can be used as food ingredients is a major target and Prof. Temelli will discuss some examples, including solid lipid nanoparticles, liposome formation and loading with bioactives, and Pressurized Gas-eXpanded (PGX) liquid technology for drying of high molecular weight biopolymers and adsorptive precipitation of bioactives.

Hosted by Nora Ventosa, NANOMOL group
