The exhibition "Científiques Catalanes 2.0", with Anna Roig and M. Rosa Palacín, is now online!

A few weeks ago we shared with you the beginning of the touring exhibition "Científiques Catalanes 2.0”, which featured more than 20 leading researchers from various STEAM disciplines and scientific outreach, including ICMAB researchers Anna Roig and M. Rosa Palacín. The contents of this exhibition can now be viewed (and downloaded!) online, on the Associació Catalana de Comunicació Científica's (ACCC) website.

The exhibition has been coordinated by the ACCC Gender Perspective Group with the intention of giving visibility to the strategic role of scientific women in the Catalan region, with an interest in scientific outreach and contributing in creating women’s representation in science and engineering. The exhibit manifests the key role of women in the scientific field and the advancement of science, and helps leave behind the gender stereotypes in STEAM.

Our researchers in the exhibition

Anna Roig appears as an expert in Materials Science and Nanotechnology, especially for nanomedicine applications. Also for her leading positions in the Institute and MATGAS, and for her contributions for the public engagement in science and for the visibilization of women in science.

M. Rosa Palacín appears as an expert in Batteries, and for her leading role in many European projects and platforms, always willing to create a bigger and connected battery community. She has participated in many conferences and seminars around this topic, and is always willing to bring science (and, especially, the science behind batteries and electric vehicles) closer to the people. She is also an enthusiast of women in science and related activities.

#Viquicientífiques: online workshop to learn how to edit the Wikipedia

Do you want to help increase women in science representation at the Wikipedia? You can join the VIQUICIENTÍFIQUES online workshop, where Ester Bonet, member of Amical Wikimedia and Wikimujeres, Grupo de Usuarias, will help us create and improve Wikipedia entries for women researchers and scientists, through the creation of entries for the scientists in the “Científiques Catalanes 2.0” exhibition.

The workshop has this schedule:

  • Tuesday the 5 May 2020, at 6pm
    Editing Wikipedia
We will learn the basic steps to create our first Wikipedia article
  • Friday the 15 May 2020, at 6pm
    Editing scientific biographies
We will create the biographies for the women represented in the exhibition that don’t have one, as well as improve the ones that do.
