From 16 to 20 October 2023, the UAB will host the Innovation Week, with the primary objective of opening its doors to surrounding organizations and sharing the diversity of its innovation ecosystem. This event aims to bring people closer to the technological and knowledge advancements emerging from the campus, and to connect entrepreneurs with business networks, private and public investors, and knowledge centers. ICMAB is participating in the event's comprehensive program, which spans various domains, activities, and themes, facilitating interactions among UAB community members, startups, businesses, and investors.

The official inauguration of the Innovation Week is scheduled for Monday, 16 October, at 12 PM, right at the heart of the UAB campus, Plaça Cívica. This event will feature a display of innovative technologies and prototypes from research groups and centers within the UAB innovation ecosystem. ICMAB's Superconducting Materials and Large Scale Nanostructures (SUMAN) group will present a fascinating demonstration involving a levitating train. This showcase will illustrate the remarkable levitational properties of superconducting materials when cooled to liquid nitrogen temperatures, accompanied by explanations of the underlying phenomena.

ICMAB will also have a significant presence at the Innovation Fair, scheduled for Tuesday, 17 October, at Hotel Exe Campus. This event will serve as a dynamic meeting point for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and companies, with the primary objective of fostering knowledge transfer from research to business and promoting public-private partnerships and open innovation. The central highlight of the event will be a matchmaking session connecting research groups, startups, and companies. Attendees will have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with ICMAB's Scientific and Technical Services Unit, as well as gain insights into the research conducted by ICMAB researchers, including Rosario Núñez (Inorganic Materials & Catalysis Laboratory, LMI), Agustin Mihi (Nanostructured Materials for Optoelectronics and Energy Harvesting, NANOPTO), Ángel Pérez (Laser Processing Group), and Nora Ventosa (Molecular Nanoscience and Organic Materials, NANOMOL).
