We received a call from one of the students of 1st BTX of the Institut Marina, from La Llagosta. They wanted to visit us, since they had seen us at the "Fira de la Recerca en Directe" at CosmoCaixa Barcelona. So we agreed they would come and visit us. On Friday 24 May 2019 they came to the ICMAB to discover the "Materials of the future for energy" and to celebrate a EU Energy Day with us.
The students came with two of their professors at 10 am. After a first introduction by Anna May, who welcomed them and explained them the research lines of the center, they could listen to Joffre Gutiérrez, researcher at the Superconducting and Large Scale Nanostructures (SUMAN) group. Joffre explained them the secrets of superconductivity and the applications of superconducting materials.
After the talk, they could visit the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) with Judith Oró, the X-ray diffraction lab (XRD) with Anna Crespi, the Low temperatures and magnetism lab, with Bernat Bozzo, and the Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) lab with Andrés Gómez. The students were very interested in the science and research, and had many questions for our researchers and technicians!
As the topic of the talk was related to energy, we decided to include this activitiy as a EU Energy Day "The materials of the future for energy".
A special thank you to Naïm, for organizing the event and getting in contact with us to come here.
