This year's EARMA Annual Conference took place in Utrecht from 5 to 7 May 2026.
EARMA, European Association of Research Managers and Administrators, held its Annual Conference in Utrecht from 5 to 7 May 2026.
EARMA brings together a vibrant and international community of research managers and administrators to exchange knowledge, share practice, and shape the future of our profession. Its annual conference offered inspiring plenaries, interactive sessions, practical insights, and meaningful networking opportunities.
Under the theme “Empowering Research Managers and Administrators as Leaders for Impact,” this year’s edition highlighted the leadership role RMAs play in driving excellence, enabling collaboration, and strengthening research systems across Europe and beyond.
From ICMAB, three people participated: Eulàlia Pujades, Mar Tristany and Patricia Hannon.
Eulàlia Pujades, from the NANOPTO research group, said: "For me, attending the annual EARMA congress is a very valuable opportunity for networking and exchanging experiences with research management professionals from across Europe. This year, moreover, has been especially meaningful because I had the opportunity to participate as chair of several sessions for the first time — a very enriching experience both professionally and personally."
Mar Tristany, from the SUMAN research group, said: "I was delighted to participate in EARMA 2026 in Utrecht, a leading forum for connecting with the European research management community, exchanging experiences with international professionals, and exploring new opportunities to strengthen innovation and knowledge transfer strategies"
Patricia Hannon, from the Strategic Projects Unit, said: "As this was my first time attending the EARMA annual conference, it was a very valuable experience that allowed me to connect with research management professionals from across Europe and to better understand the diversity of approaches, challenges, and solutions within our field. Being part of such a dynamic and collaborative community has been incredibly motivating."
