This year the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Festival 10alamenos9 was cancelled, due to the coronavirus. However, another initiative in the framework of the festival appeared: the short talks (around 20 minutes) about nanoscience and nanotechnology through YouTube, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12 pm, called "Vermut de Nanociència" (Nanoscience Vermouth). Anna Roig, and Judit Morlà participated in the initiative!
Anna Roig, from the Nanocomposites and Nanoparticles (NN) group, gave a talk on Friday, 10 April, entitled "Bacteris nanotecnòlegs" (Nanotechnologists Bacteria), in which she talked about bacterial cellulose: the biopolymer synthesized by bacteria, and that have thousands of applications!
Judit Morlà, from the Nanomol group, and member of the Catalan Society of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, gave a talk on Monday, 27 April, entitled "Què pot fer la nanotecnologia per la COVID-19?" (What can nanotechnology do for the COVID-19?). In the talk she explained what the coronavirus is, and how it affects our cells, and then she explained some of the techniques being developed to fight the coronavirus with nanoscience and nanotechnology.
There are many other talks on the YouTube channel of 10alamenos 9, you can find all the videos HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM_N_5KpWKs&list=PLLQ9eilh3Hgcer1kz9YNpK0zBrB_-ulRy
