Doctor Márta Kubovics from the Solid State Chemistry (SSC) group at ICMAB-CSIC, defended her PhD thesis "Supercritical CO2 assisted preparation of mesoporous composites for emerging applications" on Friday, 17 March 2023 at ICMAB.
The PhD thesis was supervised by Ana M. López-Periago and Concepción Domingo from the Supercritical Fluids and Functional Materials, ICMAB-CSIC.
The PhD Committee that evaluated the Thesis was formed by Prof. Falk Liebner, University of Natural Resources and Life Science, Austria (President), Dr. Gerard Tobías Rossell, ICMAB-CSIC, Spain (Secretary) and Prof. Lourdes Calvo, Universidad de Complutense de Madrid, Spain (Vocal).
Doctor Márta Kubovics's PhD thesis was part of the PhD Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

I found the PhD offer (DOCFAM) by chance in a website.
We are preparing porous composites, with large surface area and interesting textural properties using supercritical CO2 for the synthesis. These materials are tested in different applications in a wide range of fields, for example in catalysis, drug delivery or cancer treamtent.
The main applications are in methanol production via CO2 hydorgantion, photocatalytic hydorgen production, drug delivery, or cancer treatment.
I will stay around a little bit more at ICMAB, but when I leave I will miss the people in ICMAB.
All the things that I learned and experienced will for sure help me in my future positions.
I will stay around for some months in ICMAB. Then I will probably look for work at the industry, either pharmaceutical o chemical.

I never planned to do a PhD, I just took an opportunity that came to do a PhD in a foreign country.
I don't really have favourite scientists.
