M. Rosa Palacín awarded with the International Battery Association (IBA) Research Award

The ICMAB Deputy Director and Researcher, M. Rosa Palacín, receives this award for her significant contributions to battery research. The award comes in the context of the 2021 International Battery Association (IBA) Annual Meeting which will be celebrated on 24-29 October 2021 in Xiamen, China, an event that will bring together experts in the fields of electrochemistry, materials chemistry and energy chemistry, mathematical science and other battery related fields.

ICMAB Researcher M. Rosa Palacín, from the Solid State Chemistry (SSC) Group receives the IBA Research Award for her outstanding contributions and advances in electrochemical energy conversion and storage research.

This recognition points out how Palacín’s research has aided in the development of energy storage systems, with contributions to the highest level to numerous topics in the field of battery research for several technologies, amongst which alkaline, Lithium-ion and Sodium-ion batteries, including also the development of new and highly challenging battery chemistries.

The International Battery Association goes online

This year’s edition of the IBA Annual Meeting will take place in the Xiamen Millennium Harborview Hotel, in Xiamen, China, but it can also be attended online, in a hybrid model that allows attendants from all over the world to participate in the event under the current COVID-19 travel restrictions.

More than 60 speakers are already confirmed to give talks in this event, including M. Rosa Palacín, who will be giving a talk on Calcium based batteries, the lessons learnt and the challenges ahead.

The event will have a particular focus on the core technologies and key issues affecting research on secondary batteries, fuel cells, new electrochemical energy systems, and many others. There will also be an in-depth discussion regarding electrolyte materials, solid-state batteries, battery materials interface, high energy battery, the next generation batteries, and automotive battery safety issues that draw the public attention of battery industries.
