Ángel Pérez will participate at the next edition of the FGCSIC COMTE-Innovation program
The technology "Fabrication of nanocarbon supercapacitors using laser technology" has been selected to participate in this program, which aims to support the transfer of innovative technologies.

The Fundación General CSIC has selected eight beneficiary projects in the 2022 call of the COMTE-Innovation program, which aims to support the valorization of technological projects and knowledge generated by the research staff of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
These eight initiatives will enjoy intensive mentoring for 24 months, as well as a program of support, acceleration, legal advice and help in the search for funding for their projects, so that they can develop a value proposition and a suitable business strategy.
The selection process was the result of a rigorous evaluation of each of the proposals received, as well as interviews with their promoters. The evaluation committee, made up by representatives of SECOT, F. Iniciativas and the FGCSIC itself, has highlighted the high level of participation and the quality of the applications. In its selection, aspects such as the degree of maturity of the asset or technology from which the project starts, the business concept, the market opportunity, the availability and need for resources, as well as the strengths, weaknesses and motivations of the team involved were prioritized.
The selected projects are in the areas of Mathematics, Physics and Physical Technologies; Nature Sciences and Natural Resources; Cellular and Molecular Biology; and Materials Science and Technology; and are distributed among the provinces of Valencia, Granada, Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza and Alicante.
The technology "Fabrication of nanocarbon supercapacitors using laser technology" by ICMAB researcher Ángel Pérez, from the Laser Processing Group at ICMAB-CSIC, is one of the eight selected technologies. Research and patents related with this technology have received awards and are now being developed under the framework of the ESTORE project.

Judith Guasch participated in the 2nd edition of COMTE-EBT
The second edition of COMTE-EBT, launched in 2020 after the good results obtained in the first call, counted with the participation of three projects and started in January 2021 with a group working meeting.
ICMAB researcher Judith Guasch, from the Nanomol-Bio group, is finishing the participation in the second edition of this COMTE Innovation program (before COMTE-EBT). Her technology transfer project is for her research on "Artificial lymph nodes and their applications in immunotherapy" with hydrogels that mimick lymph nodes and that are used to grow T cells.
Her project is based on the production of synthetic 3D hydrogels inspired by lymph nodes with two complementary applications: on the one hand, their clinical use for cell expansion for therapeutic purposes against cancer and, on the other hand, their use in biomedical research, both for basic science and for the development of drugs and therapies, which will reduce the use of animals in laboratories. Judith Guasch and our Technology Transfer officer, Alfonso del Rey, have been working on this for the last year.

Other technology transfer programs
Other innovative technologies from ICMAB participate in other programs of technology transfer, like the Lab-2-Market (L2M) from the Energy for Society Network (XRE4S), in which the Superconducting Materials group is participating.
Two other services from this XRE4S network are currently underway: a program for advice and support on technology protection strategy with ZBM Patents SL and a mentoring service with Arvor. These are great opportunities for researchers.
For more information about these programs, you can contact our Technology Transfer Occifer, Alfonso del Rey.
