Setmana de la Ciència 2019: Participate in the Science Week 2019 with the ICMAB! #SC19

In the framework of the Science Week (Setmana de la Ciència) celebrated between 8-17 November 2019, there will we a whole bunch of scientific outreach activities throughout the territory. More than 100 CSIC research centers and institutes have programmed more than 350 activities (around 50 of them in Catalunya), and other research centers, universities and institutions have organized plenty of things, including a great variety of activites: workshops, open days, live experiments, scientific tours, talks and seminars, theater, guided visits, exhibitions... At ICMAB we have prepared a bunch of activities. Do you want to join us?

The central themes of this year's edition are:

  • The periodic table, on the occasion of the International Year of the Periodic Table of the Chemical Elements
  • Ecologist Ramon Margalef, this year marks the centenary of his birth
  • The engineer and inventor Narcís Monturiol, on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth
  • Margaret Hamilton, who led the development of on-board navigation software for the Apollo Space Program, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the arrival of man to the Moon
  • The multi-faceted Leonardo da Vinci, commemorating the 500 years after his death.

The "Setmana de la Ciència" is an initiative coordinated by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi), in Catalunya. The CSIC centers celebrate the "Semana de la Ciencia y la Tecnología". 

At the ICMAB we have the following activities:

Matheroes: Supermaterials, els herois del futur

Exhibiton about the research at the ICMAB on the materials of the future in energy, superconductors, magnetic materials, molecular electronics and biomaterials. 
From 7 October to 22 November at Biblioteca Vapor Badia, Sabadell.

"Converteix-te en un detectiu de materials"

Workshop for primary school students on the tools we use at the ICMAB to characterize and discover the structure of the materials.

"A researcher in your classroom"

Researchers from our Institute visit a primary or secondary school to explain their research and show how is the life of a scientist.

Workshop and talks about minerals at Expominer

During EXPOMINER, from 8-10 November, our stand will have some workshops on crystal identification, diffraction, minerlas and superconducting materials. Come to EXPOMINER to know more about them!
EXPOMINER will be at Fira de Barcelona, Palau 1, Recinte de Montjuïc. Friday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.

All the activities are free, but some require previous registration.
