Núvol, the digital newspaper about culture, published on 28 December 2018 an article entitled "Escletxes per incloure la dona en la ciència" about our participation in the "Science & Tech Girls Vallès" event, which took pace on 17 November 2018 at the Biblioteca Vapor Badia (Sabadell).
On Monday, 11 February 2019, we will celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at ICMAB! We have a full morning prepared with a seminar to discover who was and what did Lise Meitner do, followed by a presentation of some of the participants of the STEM-AMB-TU initiative from AMIT-CAT to encourage scientific vocations to young girls. Do you want to share this day with us?
During 2019, ICMAB researchers have written more than 220 articles in international peer-review science journals of various disciplines: chemistry, physics, materials, nanotechnology, photonics, energy, superconductivity, biochemistry, etc. We have selected in this post the journals in which our researchers publish most of the articles. Do you want to know which they are?
On 1 April 2020, the ICMAB researcher Ignasi Fina, from the Laboratory of Multifunctional Thin Films And Complex Structures (MULFOX) group, was interviewed in the radio show “La Buena Tarde”, broadcasted in Radio Asturias to talk about the flexible antiferromagnetic tapes. “La Buena Tarde” is a light variety show that discusses culture and science, with a few different collaborators on every episode.
Biocat has opened the call for applications to the second edition of CRAASH Barcelona, a 12-week acceleration program that helps research teams from Catalonia and other European countries successfully launch innovation to market in the healthtech arena. The deadline for applications is 16 March.
Are you interested in photonics? And in the recent advances realted to health and medicine? The new number of Light!, the magazine edited by SECPHO, is devoted to photonic innovations and applications on the health sector.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2019 was awarded on October 9, 2019, jointly to John B. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino for the development of lithium-ion batteries. At the ICMAB we are very happy for this award, for several reasons: Josep Fontcuberta was a former postdoc fellow of Goodenough, in Oxford; and Goodenough was once a member of our Scientific Advisory Board! Moreover, M. Rosa Palacín, researcher in the batteries field, has met all three of them, and has continued their work, developing post lithium-ion batteries at the ICMAB! In this post, both researchers have written some words on this matter! Continue reading!
On 26 March 2020, ICMAB researcher Nora Ventosa, from the Molecular Nanoscience and Organic Materials (NANOMOL) group, was interviewed in the radio show “La Nit dels Ignorants 3.0”, broadcasted in Catalunya Ràdio. “La Nit dels Ignorants 3.0” is a night time show that focuses on knowledge and company, both asking and answering public interest questions.
On February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Salt Water Museum, in collaboration with the Girona Institute for Biomedical Research (IDIBGI), will host the opening of "Científiques Catalanes 2.0", a traveling exhibition featuring women scientists in our territory, whose work is very important for the advancement of science, in all its aspects. The exhibition is coordinated by the ACCC Gender Perspective Group.
